No, we will do a home visit and only after we will assess and decide if you can be found eligible to receive assistance.

In non-emergency situations, refugees can approach Makhzoumi Foundation primary health care centres and seek medical assistance. For emergencies, refugees should approach the nearest UNHCR-contracted hospital and contact NEXtCARE.

Q4: I heard that you referred refugees to Caritas?

As of 2015 you should contact Caritas and take an appointment to open a file.

Makhzoumi and Caritas provide the same type of assistance to refugees.

Yes, we can provide you with a food voucher if available and after determining your eligibility.

If you are unemployed and you are not eligible to receive assistance, we can do an urgent home visit and speak with the landlord to follow-up on your situation. If necessary and financial resources are available, we can provide you with a one-time only emergency financial assistance sum.

Q7: I am an Iraqi refugee, I take chronic medication, and it’s too expensive I cannot buy it every month how you can help me?

If you have chronic medication, you should present your medical report and your medical prescription to us or to the pharmacy at Makhzoumi PHC, and we refer it to another YMCA organization to get the medication. Kindly note that that the medication could be available only once a month.

Unfortunately, it is not possible. The food assistance voucher is per family and is provided only to those found to be most in need and depending on financial availability.
