Current capacity is very limited, and only few families found to be most in need will receive “a place to stay” from organisations (see Annex in Shelter section for shelter organisations’ hotlines); more families will instead receive some other type of support once they have found a place to stay on their own.
Locations: NationalServices from major international humanitarian organisations are free of charge. You should make sure you understand the terms of any shelter you may receive, and contact the humanitarian organisation if you think there is a problem.
Locations: NationalRegistering with UNHCR is recommended but is not compulsory. It is a choice for each person. Some humanitarian support is only available to registered people; some support is available without registration.
Locations: NationalThere are different kinds of support from different organisations (see Annex in Sheltersection for shelter organisations’ hotlines). They may provide you temporary shelter or room in a building or they may relocate you to a collective shelter or assist you with different kind of shelter supplies.
Locations: NationalNot necessarily, and probably not very quickly. It depends on organisations’ conditions and procedures and the rapidity of response/assistance also depends on the capacity of the shelter partner. In general those found to be most in need are the most urgent to be assisted. If you have just arrived to Lebanon you should contact the nearest organisation for specific support: different organisations for registration, hygienic supplies, and shelter.
Locations: NationalNo.
Locations: NationalAll humanitarian organisations provide their services free of charge. Do not give money in return of services provided by humanitarian organisations to anyone.
Locations: NationalIt depends on the project conditions. Your stay at the particular shelter depends on many different factors like shelter type, your family situation, organisation capacity and agreement with your landlord.
Locations: NationalPossibly, it depends on your family size and composition, and on the shelter available. Humanitarian organisations try to give a family a space to themselves whenever possible, taking into consideration your family privacy and safety. Most likely you will be asked to share toilets and bathrooms, and kitchens.
Locations: NationalIt depends for the shelter condition; if the supplies are not enough for the shelter we can make a proper agreement with the head of the families.
Locations: NationalShelter supplies consist of Timber, Plywood, Tarpaulin, clear plastic sheeting and box of tools to fix the shelter/settlement. The quantity provided is enough to support existing tents. Shelter supplies for new arrivals in Lebanon consist of exactly the same items as weather-proofing but the quantity is enough to set up temporary shelter.
Locations: NationalIf you live in an ‘informal settlement’: - Water trucking, water supply from boreholes and municipality connections - Water treatment through supply of aquatabs, water filters and water testing. In sanitation we construct toilets, distribute hygiene supplies and Baby supplies, garbage bins and support municipality in garbage collection services (see annex in WASH section).
Locations: NationalIf already flooded, contact UNHCR or shelter organisation and they might be able to provide a temporary alternative shelter, pending availability, while the flooding is resolved (See Annex in Washsection for WASH organisations’ hotlines).
Upgrading the ground level is possible, depending on the availability of financial resources.
Locations: NationalHumanitarian organisations take disabilities into consideration. Depending on the organisations, families with cases of disabilities, if assisted, would be provided with suitable shelter conditions and specifications. You can also contact other organisations that provide other assistance for cases of disability (See Annex in Sheltersection for rehabilitation services).
Locations: NationalIf your family is supported with an organisation that covers part or full of your rent and signed a specific contract with your landlord you have to contact this organisation representative (seeAnnex in Sheltersection for the hotlines of the shelter organisations doing cash for rent). Please note that only families who are found to be most in need will be entitled to receive that type of support.
